At the time of signing the contract, or at a later date, arrange to meet again to orient your new caregiver on how the home works, where things can be found, schedules, important contact numbers, getting help if needed from family/friends, doctors etc., giving a copy of the keys, alarm codes, food, appliances and house rules.

Following all these steps should provide a better basis for making a decision to hire a caregiver to help look after your loved ones. While the decision and responsibility ultimately is yours, we hope that these tips will help make the process smoother and safer for you and your family.
